"No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself, or to get all the credit for doing it." -Andrew Carnegie As leaders, our success is...
For the past few years, the Gary Plank Scholarship has allowed the Foundation to send three young professionals and volunteers, one from each of our three states, to the World Credit Union Conference. Named in honor of Gary Plank, a retired Arizona League President, the scholarship program is a remarkable opportunity for recipients who show an exceptional commitment to the Credit Union movement.
This year, the Foundation will also award the same opportunity to a Development Educator.
The new $5,000 Development Educators World Council Scholarship is an incredible opportunity to attend the 2016 World Council Meeting in Belfast Northern Ireland on July 16-20. The scholarship provides many of the same opportunities as the Gary Plank Program; however, it is open to Development Educators of any age.
For those who are deeply invested in the Credit Union Movement, the World Credit Union Conference is an experience like no other. Created for high-level credit union leaders from around the world, the event provides a unique perspective of the international credit union movement through networking, exhibitions, keynote and breakout sessions, executive series meetings, forum opportunities, and even a golf tournament, fun run and yoga classes!
This year’s conference at the historical Waterfront Hall also includes day trips and other opportunities to see Northern Ireland. Known for it’s Norman castles and glacial valleys, conference guests who want to learn more about the history and culture of Belfast will be offered a variety of options including guided tours, a musical pub crawl, a visit to Ulster Folk Park and Transport Museum, and a variety of full-day excursions.
If you are a DE interested in attending this year’s World Conference, we invite you to apply for this scholarship opportunity. In addition to being actively involved as an employee or volunteer in a credit union, or a credit union organization that is affiliated with the international credit union system, eligibly requirements include:
- Having completed the DE program by January 1st of this year
- The demonstration of personal commitment to the credit union cooperative model
- The demonstration of personal commitment to further development within the international credit union system
Deadline for scholarships submission is May 2, 2016.
Visit the Foundation website for full eligibility requirements and to apply.
And a big shout-out to my peeps from the Best Class Ever!
