Apply Now for Funding to Support Leadership Initiatives at Your Credit Union

A cooperative, values-based leadership approach is at the heart of the Credit Union philosophy. This truth is just one of the reasons why the Foundation was established to support the development of Credit Union leaders. For the Credit Union Movement to grow and thrive, it’s imperative that we have strong, values-based leaders at the helm today and are committed to investing in the development of the leaders of tomorrow.

As such, it makes sense that the Foundation would support individual credit union leadership development initiatives that are values-based and help to encourage the entire workforce to contribute, develop, learn, be innovative, or embrace meaningful change. 

That’s what Leadership in Action grants are all about. 

The Leadership in Action Grant is awarded each year to an individual Credit Union within our association to help fund an internal leadership development initiative. The grants are intended to support all leadership initiatives, but are focused on the creation of strategies, systems and methods for achieving performance excellence, stimulating innovation, building knowledge and capabilities, and ensuring organizational sustainability.

Ask anyone who’s chosen to build their career within the credit union industry why they believe in the Credit Union Movement, and they’re likely to indicate that the decision was at least partially made because Credit Union philosophy aligns so well with their personal values. This is important because for any organization or movement to grow and make an impact, there must be alignment between personal and organizational values throughout the organization – but especially amongst its leaders.

Leadership in Action Grants are designed support programs that put values into action within every aspect of the organization, promoting ethical behavior, trustworthiness, and personal involvement in planning, communicating, and coaching.

In particular, we are interested in leadership initiatives that are values-based and help to encourage the entire workforce to contribute, develop, learn, be innovative, or embrace meaningful change. The Mountain West Credit Union Foundation supports Credit Union leadership initiatives with $5,000 per year. Deadline for submission is Monday September 25, 2017

Dan Finerty is the Director of Marketing at the Mountain West Credit Union Association, a Credit Union champion, a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE), and an award-winning marketer. Dan has over 14 years of marketing experience in communications, retail, packaged goods, and, of course, Credit Unions. He believes that Credit Unions have an incredible story to tell and works with some of the brightest Credit Union professionals to help promote Credit Unions to the public.
