Not for credit, not for charity, but for service.
The Seven Cooperative Principles are founded in the philosophy of cooperation and its central values of equality, equity and mutual self-help. The principles express the Credit Union philosophy that supports everything we do and sum up the reason behind our hard work and diligence: In order to achieve a better life, individually and collectively, we must work together.
I know that most of you agree when I say that I feel privileged to go to work every day knowing that the organization I work for provides services that are incredibly important to the economic security of members, their families, and their entire communities.
The Credit Union Movement is important. Your Credit Union is important. The work you do at your credit union is important. But, what’s most important is the work we can – and have –accomplished together. Because that’s what we do. We work together.
Each year, your Credit Union Foundation helps to advance the Credit Union Movement by promoting Credit Union leadership, education, social responsibility, and initiatives that support the long-term success in our Credit Union community. The benefits of these programs are far reaching, impacting donors and recipients alike. And, it’s only possible through the generous support of Credit Unions like yours.
By contributing just 7 cents per member, the Credit Unions in our Association ensure the continuation of programs that support affordable financial services, Credit Union development, financial education, leadership development, and education. In other words, it’s one more way we are working together to support programs that benefit us all.
Take A Leadership Role
Credit Unions who wish to make a donation at the Foundation Leader Level are invited to increase their contribution to 10 cents per member. These donations allow us to expand the Foundation’s impact even further.
Regardless of the level of your contribution, I thank you for doing your fair share to advance the Credit Union Movement. From identifying and developing the next generation of Credit Union leaders, offering Credit Union development grants, and researching the nature of leadership at high performing Credit Unions, we are able to leverage our collective power to do more good than we could ever do individually.
We are, after all, stronger together.
